love? oh, I have loved.

I have given life and desire to love,
passed it gladly on a platter of hope
and had it returned, dead and cold.

I have flown free with the birds
on ghostly wings, singing my love
with operatic joy for all mankind.

I have been a prisoner in the
dungeon of my love
crushed and jellied by the
weight of my guilty sorrows.

I have loved lust and hungered
for the heat of intimate sensation
where romance becomes sex.

but I have shared love and keep it now,
close and secure in the palace
of my heart, in mirrored halls
where all is light and ecstasy. ... more

In Lowell, God is unknown.

his name is forgotten in Centerville.

his tabernacle is empty in Jeanne D'arc

and only he knows were he dwells.

If there is passion like flaming arrows

and hope like a shield on fifth avenue

then the memory of him is a sword, and we are war.

Glorious are you, and excellent,

more than the valiant Merrimac water

plundered by the Pawtucket falls

    resting tears down his cheeks

If there is salt, like crushing words

and death like a filthy poem

then this is the hymn of ocean, and we are peace.

The god of Mayor Bud is nothing but rebuke

and a mare whinnies as she pulls back

in fear of the omnnipotent hand.

Who are you that you can stand beside me?

If there is heaven, like cold judgment

and earth like the silence before

then this is affliction, and we are disease.

Surely the wrath of man praises you.

The survivors of our prayers cry out:

Yahweh, Yahweh, we are alone.

    We are alone.

Our neighbors bring presents, but no fear of god

this is the price of my song:

a careful descent to a careless hell.

sweet, sugary empty calories

Hope has died across this opaque land
where none will dare or understand.
The endless snow, and broken thoughts
the principles that we've forgot/

Old dear America, she's dead, she's gone
an empty vessel for what went wrong
a home for slaves to wage and stolen fruit
the million strong who got the boot

Audacious hope for freedom's touch
embrace the lie - you have too much
a home, a car, gadgets, and gidgets too
everything except anything that might be true

America, she dead, she's buried cold
a rotting corpse bejeweled in mold
The endless dirge of health and state
of hopeless hope and a man too great --

too audacious to fail or fall
The one, the only, best of us all.
At home in our greatest sins
with wordless words and empty wins

Wretched America, I wail for thee
for all you were to men like me
The endless joy of spacious land
the perfect tribute to God's perfect plan

With you, now all hope has passed
today, I see the you've breathed your last
I have no home, no dreams or faith
- I can not see my freedom's wraith

America, the dust of justice blows
across your breast then goes
past the moon, in starlight displayed
